Verizon - Party Pay
17% of Verizon Wireless customers share their plan with people outside their household — and every month, the account holder becomes an unofficial bill collector, chasing payments through Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App while absorbing instant deposit fees and doing mental math nobody asked for. I led the exploration of Party Pay to collapse that entire external workflow back into a single managed experience inside MyVerizon — coordinating across billing, customer service, and IT to define what the feature needed to be before a single line of code was written. The benchmark was clear after sitting down with the lead developer and design manager at Visible, Verizon's own group-pay MVNO: members want to be invited, not assigned — and if they have to call customer service to understand their bill, you've already lost them. The solution mapped two distinct journeys — the account manager who owns the party, and the member who just needs to pay their share and move on. Members could pay without creating a Verizon account. Managers could track who's paid, send reminders, and assign lines without it becoming a second job.
